Guidebook essentials
The five things everyone must know from the Employee Guidebook 2.0 — and where the rest lives.
Hours and breaks
- Standard staggered schedule 7:30 am to 6:00 pm; a half-hour unpaid lunch at a time that suits your co-workers.
- No fixed coffee break — 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon as your supervisor's department schedule allows.
Dress and safety
- Business casual for office staff; warehouse staff wear what their work needs — nothing loose that can catch in racking or machine tools.
- Footwear covers the feet (no sandals); keep a change of shoes for wet or snowy days.
- Safety glasses are mandatory in the machine and fabrication area.
Vacation
- Accrued May 1 to April 30: one day a month in the first year (max 10), 10 days a year for years 1 to 5, 15 days after 5 years.
- Taken between May 1 and January 15, no carry-forward, one month's notice on the vacation form, first come first served, no two from one department at once.
Sick days and calling in
- Call your supervisor AND the receptionist before the start of the day.
- Appointments go on the scheduled time off / late / leave early form in advance.
- Bring a doctor's note the next workday.
Confidentiality
- Company and customer information stays inside your day-to-day duties.
- Your salary is between you, your supervisor and HR — nobody else.
