- Higher Level of Communication = Awareness + Knowledge + Process + Objective + Empathy.
The 10 rules
- 1. Reduce the number of emails back and forth and increase efficiency.
- 2. Make sure your subject line has structure, knowledge and the objective outlined — always use the account number and contact names in the subject line.
- 3. Create purpose and structure: take the guesswork out for the person receiving the email; the 5 W's — who, what, when, where and why; problem / solution / suggestions.
- 4. Always REPLY TO ALL.
- 5. Always reply timely — within 5 to 15 minutes.
- 6. Bcc yourself for follow-up on all issues.
- 7. Always reply DONE (again reply to all) when you are asked to do a task.
- 8. DO NOT TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS.
- 9. Always continue with the same message sent — do not start new subjects or email threads. This keeps the flow and the complete content together for later review.
- 10. Emails that require URGENT attention: update the subject of the email (or chain) with "ALERT" - (Person) - the rest of the subject. Example: ALERT! - Trevor - NVA - Missing Parts - 25002500-375B/4615
